Gift Planning

Willow Society

Colgate has established the Willow Society to recognize alumni and friends who have made estate plans, life-income arrangements, and life insurance plans that include the university. The importance of these future gifts in support of Colgate cannot be underestimated, as they will provide the endowment backbone needed to ensure that Colgate remains one of the top liberal arts colleges in the United States.

Image of willows on campusHundreds of loyal Colgate alumni, parents, and friends have chosen to become members of the Willow Society and have received the satisfaction of knowing that their future gift will benefit in perpetuity deserving young people seeking a Colgate education. Membership in the Willow Society provides an opportunity to say "thank you" to the many generous individuals who have chosen to give back to Colgate through a deferred gift. The impact of their gifts is especially powerful because members of the Willow Society inspire others to consider supporting Colgate in a similar manner. For this, Colgate is forever grateful.

All persons who notify the university that their estate plans include Colgate become members of the Willow Society in recognition of their important future support. If you would like to learn more about membership in the Willow Society or would like information about an estate gift to Colgate, please call or ask your legal counsel to contact the Office of Planned Giving at 1-800-813-1819, e-mail Andrew Coddington at acoddington@mail.colgate.edu or share your plans with us by completing this Statement of Deferred Gift.

The discussion herein is general in nature and may not apply to all individuals. Prospective donors are urged to consult their personal tax and financial advisors concerning the specific consequences of making gifts to Colgate. We would be pleased to discuss, in confidence, ways in which you may support Colgate. These measures may also have an impact on your estate planning.
