I Am Married. Can Colgate Make Income Payments as Long as Either One of Us Is Alive?

Yes. A gift annuity can be created to pay one or two annuitants for life. It can pay either the donor or the donor and spouse jointly and then the survivor.

You can also create a gift annuity with income to someone other than a spouse - an older family member, perhaps. Please check with your adviser.

Gift Spotlight: Bill and Ellen, both 70, make a gift of $20,000 to Colgate in exchange for a gift annuity. Colgate will pay an annuity rate of 5.2% in annual payments of $1,040 to Bill and Ellen jointly while they are both alive and then continue to pay that amount to the survivor.
