How Are Gift Annuity Rates Determined?

The American Council on Gift Annuities (ACGA), a nonprofit organization, reviews and suggests gift annuity rates that most charitable organizations follow. Colgate follows the ACGA rates, capped at 8.5% for immediate-payment gift annuities.

How Will the New Rates Affect Previously Existing Annuities?

There is no effect on previously existing annuities issued prior to January 1, 2023. The gift annuity rate in effect when an annuity is established remains unchanged for the duration of the annuity. You may count on the payment remaining the same for the duration of life.

In fact, many donors to Colgate have used a rate increase as an opportunity to establish a new annuity - or add to existing annuities - at the new rate. Colgate will combine the payments into one: an easy way to increase your charitable contribution and the income you receive.
