Keeping It Going With Lauri Curtis Hadobas ’77

Lauri Curtis Hadobas ’77Lauri Curtis Hadobas ’77 is a retired American Airlines executive, mother of three, and avid University supporter. She serves on the Women’s Leadership Council and the Colgate Alumni Council. She is a reader for summer internship funding applications and an admission interviewer. And, recently, she made a generous gift by naming Colgate as the beneficiary of her IRA.

“I believe in giving back to the place that gave so much to me,” Lauri explains. “I was afforded the opportunity to attend Colgate, which started this wonderful chain of events — learning from the best professors, making friendships that lasted a lifetime, finding a company through an alumnus that gave me a great career, finding a spouse to do life with, having a family, and building an amazing life. It is my turn to keep that going by supporting Colgate so others can have similar opportunities.”

Lauri says she is enthusiastic about Colgate’s future and excited to support it. “When I met Brian Casey, I was so energized by his leadership and his vision for Colgate. After learning more about The Third-Century Plan, I was hooked. Colgate is in a fantastic position. With the proper support, Colgate will continue to evolve,” she says.

Lauri chose to make a gift through her IRA because she thought it was the most beneficial option for her and for Colgate. “It makes sense from a taxation standpoint to leave retirement assets to charity — and I was surprised by how simple it was to set up,” she says. “In the past, I was so mystified by these types of gifts, but once I learned more, I found it couldn’t be easier.”
